UPDATED: The Proper Way To Carry A Front-Loading Washing Machine:
1) Block the inner tank to the outer cabinet with the original transportation bolts, that of course you kept safely stored from when it was first unpacked.
2) If the original transportation bolts were lost, unscrew and remove the worktop and slide some polystyrene panels from another packing, between the tank and the cabinet. DO THIS ON THE SIDE WHERE THE DRAIN PUMP IS. Drain pump can be seen from the bottom of the machine and usually is on the same side of the filter doorlet and of the drain hose outlet.
3) Fix the hoses on the outside of cabinet with paper tape.
4) Put an old blanket on the trunk's bottom and lay the machine on the side of the drain pump, so that the inner tank lies on the styrofoam pieces and doesn't bump the cabinet.
5) Use some ropes to block the machine to the child restraint anchors (see your User Manual for their location). Put some rags between the ropes and the machine's body. Securely tighten the ropes.
6) Drive safely and avoid sudden accelerations/brakings.

do you see the inherent problem with wagons and 5doors these days? You can't put anything substantial in the back without having to worry about breaking the back window out. FLAT ROOFS AND VERTICAL WINDOWS!!!! DAMNIT!!!
